Rod Patrick Bootmakers Fort Worth location will have its grand opening Saturday, Sept. 16. Not only is it a chance for the public to visit their new store at 2900 W. Sixth St., it’s an opportunity to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

“I have a daughter, son-in-law and three grandchildren who live down there (Brenham), and they got very lucky, but my daughters are married to brothers, and one of the brothers lost everything (in Katy),” said Bobby Smith, president of Rod Patrick Boots.

“Also, we’ve gone to the livestock show for several years and we’ve made several good friends and customers. We love it down there.”

At 12:30 p.m. on the day of the grand opening, Smith said there will be a live auction for three items, a hand-made pair of custom boots to the winner’s liking, a custom Bohlin buckle, and dinner for 10 at Horseshoe Hill Restaurant.

“I thought, what can we do for those people in Houston and the area?” Smith said. “Well, we’re going to hopefully build a boot of their dreams for someone and help some folks out who are in need.”

The store will be open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. that day. Smith said there will be live music, a remote broadcast by The Ranch radio station, free food and beverages, store specials, and five free pairs of boots will be given away during the day.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to bring awareness to what’s going on down there,” Smith said. “Maybe we can encourage and inspire other businesses to do something as well.”

Rod Patrick Boots is owned by Cinch Jeans in Denver. The original Rod Patrick, who lives in Weatherford, sold the business six years ago.

Cinch has been in the western wear business for a century. Smith and his wife Kelly moved to Fort Worth a year ago from Denver. He has been in corporate sales and at the executive level for 22 years, the past 20 with Cinch.

Rod Patrick custom boots retail for $500 and up and are custom-fitted for sizes 4-17 up to triple-E and quadruple-A.
