The H-E-B supermarket chain has announced a $14 million upgrade and expansion of its Burleson store at 165 NW John Jones Drive.
When originally opened in 2010, the business boasted 88,000 square feet. By expanding to 115,000 square feet, the supermarket will become the area’s first H-E-B Plus.
Stores bearing that designation offer more than groceries. Electronics, toys, housewares, grilling and outdoor furniture, apparel and fresh live plants, among other items, also are available.
With the added inventory will come expanded departments, new products and added variety, among other features.
“We are pleased to add to our stellar offerings and give shoppers what they deserve – a broader selection and more shopping space,” said Eli Daniel, the store’s general manager, commenting in a news release.
Burleson customers can expect an expanded healthy living department, with 600 new bulk items. The department also will feature fresh-ground nut butter and local honeys and natural, organic products, health and beauty items.
An expanded produce department will feature fudge and bulk candy, artisan breads and a tortilleria selling fresh tortillas made daily. Blooms, a full-service floral specialty boutique will offer fresh flowers and bouquets, among other items.
Customers can expect double the variety of wines, as well as gluten-free food options with more than 600 items in refrigerated, frozen and dry grocery, as well as a unique selection for vegans.
Construction began on Monday July 7 and reach completion in February 2015. During the redesign, items may change location within the store, but store staff and added signage will be available to help all customers find what they need.
San Antonio-based H-E-B operates more than 350 stores in Texas and Mexico. The grocer employs more than 80,000 and serves millions of customers in more than 150 communities. More information is available at www.heb.com.
