Loving Cats and ‘Buster Brown’

Kathleen Jenkins, a self-styled “’80s gal,” poses with her latest guide dog, a German Shepherd named Buster Brown, at the Stock Show. Jenkins reports eyesight weakened by a long past traumatic brain injury, and she considers her ongoing recovery a miracle and a prime beneficiary of modern medicine, as well.

“I’m training Buster Brown. He’s 1 year old and it’s the first time he’s seen a horse and, for that matter, a cow,” Jenkins said while having to steady and calm the dog as horses with riders made their way through the Burnett Building at Will Rogers Memorial Center.

Jenkins, retired after 30 years in dental hygiene, once showed Siamese and Oriental Shorthair cats.
