Justin Brands names new marketing/communications team

Western footwear icon Justin Brands Inc. has stepped up its marketing and communications efforts with new additions to the team.

Led by Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Lankes, the 136-year-old company named Lisa Albert – senior communications manager and Kristin Crosthwait , senior marketing manager.

“The new roles are the first step in Justin Brands’ 2015 efforts to establish integrated marketing and communications strategies and are designed to ensure all marketing, advertising, public relations and social media strategies are integrated across the brands,” Lankes said.

Albert most recently served in a similar role at TCU. She brings 14 years of experience with expertise in branding, media relations, social media and community relations. In her new role, Albert manages media relations, product placement for movies, blogger requests, and relationships with music endorsees, and oversees all social media for Justin Brands.

Crosthwait has more than eight years of experience in marketing strategy, planning and operational excellence. In her new role, she will lead a team responsible for maintaining advertising budgets across all company divisions, providing sales support for the brands, offering digital strategy and coordinating the company’s relationships with outside vendors, agencies and retailers.

Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group Inc. appointed Ian R. Carter, president of global development and architecture for Hilton Worldwide, as chairman. Carter was appointed president of Hilton’s global operations in 2008 and acquired responsibilities for global development in 2010. Carter was CEO of Hilton International from 2005-2006. Previously, he served as officer and president of Black & Decker Corp., Middle East, Africa and Asia. He also spent more than a decade with General Electric Plastics, ultimately serving as president of General Electric Specialty Chemical.

Rick Sorenson, a practicing attorney and the president of McDonald Sanders Law Firm, has been elected to serve as chairman of the Tarrant County Bar Foundation. Sorenson has served as a director of the foundation since 2009.

John Pinkerton has joined the board of Lonestar Resources Limited. Pinkerton became a director of Range Resources Corp. in 1988 and was elected chairman in 2008. He joined Range as president in 1990 and was appointed CEO in 1992. In 2012, Pinkerton retired as CEO and stepped down as chairman on Jan. 1, 2015. He remains a director of Range. Previously, Pinkerton served in various capacities at Snyder Oil Corp. for 12 years, including the position of senior vice president.

Christina Toups, general manager of Ridglea Country Club since 2002, has been elected to the board of Club Managers Association of America for a three-year term. She served as Ridglea’s clubhouse manager from 1995-1998, before moving to Austin Country Club in Austin, where she also was clubhouse manager. She joined CMAA as a student in 1991 and as a professional member in 1993, and has served on many of the association’s national committees. She has served on the boards of the International Wine Society and the Texas Lone Star Chapter of CMAA. She is the current president for Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County, the president of the Texas Alliance of Recreational Organizations, and a member of the 2011 class of Leadership Fort Worth.

The Texas Health Resources Board of Trustees named John R. (Bob) Ferguson III and Wesley R. (Wes) Turner to two-year terms. Ferguson, retired managing director and a board member of TDIndustries Inc., was elected as the board’s chairman. He previously served as board vice chairman and succeeds Anne T. Bass. Turner, an executive with Advance Newspapers and former publisher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, was selected as vice chairman. The board also welcomed new members Kenneth W. Reeves Sr., chief human resources officer for YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth; Bishop J. Michael Lowry, resident bishop of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church/Fort Worth Episcopal Area; and Janet DeVries, general presbyter for Grace Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). They will serve three-year terms.

Susan Weeks,associate dean for nursing and health innovation and director of the Texas Christian University Center for Evidence Based Practice and Research: A Collaborating Center of the Joanna Briggs Institute, has been named the new dean of Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences. Weeks has served as acting dean since January 2014. A member of the nursing faculty since 1994, she received her doctorate from TCU in 2009. She has been a registered nurse since 1983 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and a Fellow of Leadership of Academic Nursing. In the community, Weeks has served on boards and committees of the American Red Cross Chisholm Trail Chapter, Texas Health Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital, Baylor All Saints Medical Hospital, Cook Children’s Medical Center and the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council.

Jerri Schooley is the new associate vice president of advancement at Texas Wesleyan University. She most recently served as assistant vice president for major gifts at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. Prior to Texas A&M, she spent eight years at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she served as associate vice president for development and managed the major gifts and prospect management teams. At Texas Wesleyan, Schooley will serve as a major gifts officer, manage the development team and oversee the day-to-day fundraising operation. Schooley has worked in private philanthropy for more than 20 years, developing, implementing and managing fundraising programs. She spent more than a decade as a fundraising consultant with the J. F. Smith Group in Auburn, Ala.

Honors & Awards

Anne Bavier, founding dean of the UT Arlington College of Nursing and Health Innovation, received the Legion of Honor Gold Medallion from the Chapel of Four Chaplains. Bavier is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the Institute of Medicine of Chicago and was the first recipient of the Edith Moore Copeland Award for Excellence in Creativity from Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She worked as a program director in the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute and as deputy director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health in the National Institutes of Health, where she received the agency’s highest award, the Director’s Award, for exceptional leadership. Bavier is president-elect of the National League for Nursing.

Harraid new administrator at Texas Health Burleson

Texas Health Neighborhood Care & Wellness Burleson, a subsidiary of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, appointed Jamie Harraid as the new facility’s administrator.

Harraid is the former community and physician outreach manager at Texas Health Burleson. He joined Texas Health in 2009, serving as a fitness management contractor and consultant and playing an integral role during the inception of Texas Health Burleson.

In 2012, along with managing the fitness center, Harraid took on an additional role, serving as Texas Health Burleson’s community and physician outreach manager. He worked on several projects within Texas Health, including helping create fitness centers on campuses at Willow Park and at the corporate office in Arlington.

“Jamie has a strong administrative background, and he’s been a part of Texas Health Burleson, even before the official opening,” said Becky Tucker, Texas Health Resources vice president of integrated health campuses and former administrator of Texas Health Burleson. “He’s well respected by his Texas Health Burleson family, and I know he is empathetic toward the vision Texas Health has for its neighborhood care and wellness centers – here in Burleson and across North Texas.”
