KWA Construction, a leading general contractor specializing in multifamily developments throughout Texas, has finalized construction of Phase II of Columbia Renaissance Square in Fort Worth. Developer Columbia Residential selected KWA Construction to build the 120-unit affordable senior living community for ages 62 and over. Designed with improved energy efficiency, indoor air quality and lower utility costs, the residences are built to achieve certification by National Green Building Standard. Renaissance Square Senior is located at 2801 Moresby Street in Fort Worth and participates in an affordable housing program.

“Providing quality and affordable multifamily senior housing is crucially important for this often neglected segment of the population. Phase II of Columbia Renaissance Square is built to create a safe, efficient and pleasant environment for senior residents in Fort Worth,” said Brian Webster, President of KWA Construction. “Working with Columbia Residential again after a successful completion of phase I testifies to our years of senior living expertise as well as our commitment to quality construction, sustainable materials and energy efficiency.”

The three-story, 95,015-square-foot building designed by JHP Architecture features one- and two-bedroom open floor plans packaged with full-size kitchens and separate dining areas. The apartment homes are equipped with attractive ENERGY STAR® appliances and 42-inch cabinets with an espresso finish. Soaring 9-foot ceilings further open up the residences, which include designer-inspired features like vinyl plank flooring, ceramic tile in the bathrooms and carpeted bedrooms. Grab bars in the bathrooms add additional safety. Community amenities available to residents include a clubhouse community room with a catering kitchen, a business center with computers and Wi-Fi, fitness center, wellness room, central laundry facility and a theater room for movie screenings. Renaissance Square Senior also features paved, tree-lined pathways for bicycling or walking as well as a landscaped gazebo and courtyard for enjoying the outdoors.

Columbia Renaissance Square apartments were developed in partnership with Purpose Built Communities, a nonprofit consulting firm that works side-by-side with local leaders to plan and implement a holistic revitalization effort. Built around an award-winning model and tailored to the community’s needs and the dynamics of the neighborhood, the framework utilizes a mixed-income housing strategy and promotes community wellness through a rich network of community and support services. The development strategy is designed to bridge the poverty gap by putting education centers, health care facilities and green spaces in close proximity to low-income residents.
