Local military hero surprised with new car

Hanim and Tim Apple

Tim Apple, a retired sergeant with the United States Army, was honored for his sacrifice and patriotism June 25 with the keys to a new Chevrolet Traverse.

Apple was recognized as a Chevrolet Everyday Hero by Chevrolet, the Military Warriors Support Foundation and the North Texas Chevy Dealers during the Celebrate Freedom 2016 event at Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas. The annual concert is presented by KLTY 94.9 FM in Dallas.

A native of Illinois, Apple joined the Army in 1994 and served in Germany, Korea and Kuwait. He was deployed to Iraq in 2004, where he sustained combat-related injuries. During his stint in the Army, Apple was awarded numerous medals, including the Purple Heart, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and multiple Army Achievement Medals.

“This presentation and event is about honoring one of our local heroes who has sacrificed so much to provide us our freedom,” said Carey Williams, president of the North Texas Chevy Dealers. “It takes great partners like the Military Warriors Support Foundation and our local Chevy dealerships to help take care of our brave heroes, tell their stories and promote the foundation so they can continue to help veterans in need.”
