National Technical Systems announces product safety lab at Plano facility

A. Lee Graham

National Technical Systems Inc. has announced that its Plano facility is adding an internationally focused product safety lab and has hired its first telecommunications director.

The new lab and Tom Griffith, the new telecommunications director, will be featured at the facility’s open house and customer appreciation day on June 28.

“Our goal is to expand and extend our work here in Plano in the telecommunications market, and Tom will help us lead that effort in building this business,” said John Ngo, general manager of the Plano facility.

Griffith has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He is the founder and former vice president of sales and business development for BRIDGE Networks Inc., a Dallas company focused on bridging telecom and data networks together in the wireless carrier environment.

The new product safety lab, scheduled for completion by mid-July, has been designed to support customers seeking many international approvals for their exports.

“We are the leading aerospace, military, commercial electronic and telecommunications product testing laboratory in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and will continue to upgrade and evolve the facility to meet the new demands of all of our customers,” said president and CEO William C. McGinnis, commenting in a news release.

Capabilities at the Plano facility include vibration testing at extreme temperatures (between -300 F to 600 F), saltwater immersion testing up to 150 feet deep and radar avoidance testing. The facility includes a 50,000-square-foot main laboratory with another 45,000-square-foot support facility.

The open house-customer appreciation day will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday June 28. The Plano facility is located at 1701 E. Plano Parkway, Suite 150.
