Euless-based U.S. Concrete Inc. has appointed Susan M. Ball to the company’s board of directors. Ball was previously executive vice-president, CFO and treasurer of CVR Energy Inc.

Fort Worth Sister Cities International was recognized as the best program in the nation by Sister Cities International at its 2018 annual conference in Aurora, Colorado, in July. This is the ninth time the Fort Worth group has been named Best Overall Program.
The awards competition, which was open to more than 500 similar programs nationwide, recognizes sister city organizations that are promoting peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation. Fort Worth Sister Cities’ selection was partly based on community involvement and engagement.
Southlake attorney Leslie Barrows’s – photo – legal practice, the Barrows Firm, was named the 2018 Southlake Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year during the organization’s annual gala and awards banquet on June 21. Barrows serves on the chamber’s board of directors and executive committee and is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Southlake. She has also served on the Carroll Independent School District Education Foundation board and the Tarrant County Bar Association, chairing or co-chairing Tarrant County Adoption Day three times. She was named 2013 Metroport Teen Judge of the Year and received its Values Award in 2015.
The Bell Fort Worth Alliance Air Show ranked third among 20 of the nation’s most prominent air shows in the Best Air Shows voting in the 2018 USA TODAY Best Readers’ Choice contest. All rankings in the contest were determined by votes from the public during a four-week period. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the Canadian Forces Snowbirds Air Demonstration Squadrons will perform at this year’s air show Oct. 13-14 at Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

Jeffrey M. Tillman has joined Brackett & Ellis PC as an associate. Tillman’s practice primarily consists of general litigation, commercial litigation and insurance defense.
NONPROFITS
Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth Inc. has promoted Kristen Bostick to regional director of educational programs and business partnerships, Alyssa Grant to controller and Marc Thompson to regional director of compliance and employment programs. Jessie Mae Hendrickson has been hired as director of workforce development, Denton, and Margaret March was hired as executive assistant.
Bostick has worked at Goodwill Fort Worth for more than 11 years in positions including manager of marketing communications and event planning, director of special projects and director of education programs and partnerships. Bostick volunteers with North Texas Special Needs Assistance Program, where she sat on the board from 2011-2013.
Communities In Schools of Greater Tarrant County Inc. has added Michelle Riffle as development officer. Riffle worked previously for the software company RainMaker. Her professional experience includes community engagement at Girls Inc. of Tarrant County and development for Casa Manana.
Sheryl Kenny, grants manager for the City of Arlington, was recently re-elected as an executive officer for the National Community Development Association.
The nonpartisan, nonprofit association represents local government around the country and supports affordable housing and economic development to improve communities, especially for low- and mid-income residents.
