Boards & Organizations Arlington Mayor Pro Tem, Kathryn Wilemon – photo — was named the 48th president of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). She has served as a director and secretary/treasurer before becoming COG’s vice president in 2013. In addition to the executive board, Wilemon is the voting representative for the city of Arlington, where she represents District 4. Hunt County Judge John Horn is the new vice president and Fort Worth Councilmember Danny Scarth was elected secretary-treasurer. Four new members were elected: Richardson Mayor Laura Maczka, North Richland Hills Councilmember Tom Lombard, Westlake Mayor Laura Wheat and Waxahachie Mayor Kevin Strength. The Hon. Toni Rose, Texas State Representative, District 110, is the ex officio member. The board of trustees at Barbara Gordon Montessori School has appointed Ken Cannon. He will serve on the building and grounds committee. Cannon worked as an executive at Xerox Corp. for three decades, most recently as the director of employee/industrial relations for North American operations. Dr. Larry E. Reaves, a Fort Worth plastic surgeon, has been reelected to represent Texas as a delegate on the American Medical Association’s House of Delegates, its policymaking body. Reaves has been a member of the Texas Medical Association for 21 years and has been practicing medicine for 31 years. He has served as a delegate to TMA’s House of Delegates since 2006 and chaired TMA’s Council on Constitution and Bylaws in 2002. Reaves is past president of numerous medical associations, including the Tarrant County Medical Society, Fort Worth Surgical Society, and Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and has served on the board of directors of the Fort Worth Academy of Medicine. Gary Ruff, — photo — senior vice president of physician resources for Tenet Healthcare Corp., has been elected to the board of Easter Seals North Texas. Previously, he served Tenet as senior vice president and general counsel. He joined Tenet as associate counsel of the company’s former Gulf States region. In 2001, Ruff received Tenet’s Teamwork Award for outstanding customer service. Prior to joining Tenet, Ruff was a tax manager for Deloitte & Touche LLP. Government Shannon Hamons – photo – is the new director of Southlake Economic Development. Before joining Southlake’s staff, he served as vice president of Pizzuti Companies, a real estate development firm in Ohio. He previously served as economic development director for Grove City, Upper Arlington and Westerville, Ohio. He comes to Southlake with 14 years of public economic development experience and eight years in private development work.
Honors & Awards The National Association of Professional Women named Christy L. White, senior manager with Arbonne, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession. Adan Loza, line cook at Reata Restaurant in Fort Worth, received The Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation Employee Excellence Award for exhibiting outstanding leadership and dedication in performing his job on a daily basis. Loza, who won in the Back of the House category, has worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years, including eight years at Reata. Site Selection magazine has named the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce one of the Top 10 Economic Development Groups in the United States for 2013. The Chamber had made the Top 20 list seven times in the last nine years, but due to several large deals in 2013, made the Top 10 list for the first time. The Chamber was recognized for securing 14 economic development projects that represent 4.9 million square feet of real estate, $517.5 million in new capital investment and 7,000 jobs. The total annual payroll associated with the deals secured in 2013 is estimated at $330 million a year. The Joint Commission, in conjunction with The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, recently recognized Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth with Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers. Bob Moore Construction received the Outstanding Construction Award for its Trader Joe’s cold storage warehouse construction project in Irving from Texas Building Branch, the state organization for the Association of General Contractors of America.
Nonprofit Organizations Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains named Katherine Curtis – photo – chief development and communications officer. Curtis is a certified fund raising executive and brings more than 10 years of fundraising experience, including fund development positions at The Salvation Army and Cook Children’s Health Foundation. Her community involvement includes Junior League of Fort Worth, Association of Professional Fundraisers-Fort Worth Metro Chapter, TCU’s Frog Families Network, Plaid for Women and Leadership Fort Worth’s Leading Edge class of 2014.
Sports The Texas Rangers promoted Jim Cochrane to senior vice president, partnerships and client services. Cochrane, who is in his 18dth year with the Rangers organization, has spent the past seven years as vice president of partnerships and client services. He began his career with the Rangers as an intern in 1997 and has also sold partnerships and media for the Dallas Stars Hockey Club, Hicks Sports Group, Cedar Park Center and Mesquite Championship Rodeo.

Crescent chairman and CEO wins EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award John Goff, — photo — chairman and chief executive officer of Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC, was named EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the Southwest Region in the real estate and construction category. “It’s an honor to represent Crescent as the EY Entrepreneur of the Year as we celebrate Crescent’s 20th anniversary,” Goff said. “We received this recognition because of all of our employees, partners, customers and vendors, both past and present, who have helped make Crescent what it is today. Goff’s timely purchases and sales of Class A office properties in Texas, Nevada and Colorado and the development of an employee team focused on superior customer service, were cited as the basis for the success of both Goff and Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate. Goff took the company public in 1994 and sold at the peak of the commercial real estate market in 2007. He reacquired the firm with Barclays Capital in 2009. Currently, Goff and Crescent Real Estate are developing select office and retail properties in Dallas and Houston.
Vader first woman, Nolan Catholic grad to lead school Erin Vader, a teacher and administrator in the diocesan school system for 18 years, has been appointed the new president of Nolan Catholic High School. Vader, currently principal of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School, is a 1988 Nolan Catholic graduate. She becomes the first Nolan Catholic graduate to lead the school in its 53-year history and the first local Catholic school educator to move into leadership at the school. She also is the first woman to lead the school. Vader earned a degree in English from the University of Texas at Arlington, a master’s degree in education from Texas Wesleyan University and her certification from the University of Dallas Catholic’s School Leadership program. She is currently enrolled in the Texas Wesleyan Doctoral Educational Leadership program. Vader taught at St. Andrew Catholic School in Fort Worth, was principal of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School, and was middle school director and assistant principal of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School. She was named principal in 2012. Vader replaces Father Richard Villa, who ended his tenure on June 30 when the Marianist community departed the Catholic Diocese.
