Architecture KSQ Architects hired Douglas Koehne as the firm’s director of K-12 Planning. He will be responsible for design, programming, planning, and project management for K-12 school districts across Texas and the Southwest, and work out of the firm’s office in Grapevine. Koehne has 20 years of experience in planning, facility assessment, programming and design of both new school construction and facility renovations and modernization. He has led bond projects and handled the master planning for multiple Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas school districts, including Richardson, Arlington and Maypearl. His project experience extends to more than 100 completed education projects. His educational involvement includes the AIA Committee on Architecture for Education, Texas Association of School Boards and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International.

Aviation Regional fractional aircraft ownership company Executive AirShare promoted Daniel Ireson to assistant chief pilot. Ireson, who has served as a base manager with Executive AirShare since 2011, is based at the company’s facilities at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport and Love Field in Dallas. Ireson is a captain in Executive AirShare’s Phenom 100 and Phenom 300 aircraft, with more than 4,000 hours of flight time in his career. Ireson previously was a contract pilot for Business Air in Denton. He also owned a Part 141 flight school for four years.

Banking & Finance Joe Barnhart joined Texas Bank Mortgage Co., a division of Texas Bank Financial, as executive vice president. Barnhart’s banking career spans 35 years. Shane C. Miller joined Whitley Penn Financial LLP as a senior wealth adviser. Miller began his career as a financial adviser with Raymond James Financial Services. Upon obtaining his Series 7, Series 63, and Series 65 licenses, he began providing investment solutions for high net worth individuals and businesses. Herd Midkiff has been named partner at J. Taylor & Associates LLC. Midkiff, who joined the firm in 2007, is in the Consulting Services department. He has more than 14 years of experience within the nonprofit and investor-owned health care sectors. Previously, he worked at Triad Hospitals Inc., Texas Health Resources and Baylor Healthcare System. He is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and is a Certified Valuation Analyst.

Jefferson Gramm will fill a newly created board seat at Tandy Leather Factory Inc. Since 2006, Gramm has been a portfolio manager at Bandera Partners LLC, which manages Bandera Master Fund LP, an investment fund that owns approximately 28 percent of Tandy Leather Factory’s shares. From October 2004 to July 2006, he served as managing director of hedge fund manager Arklow Capital LLC. He served as a director of Peerless Systems Corp. from June 2009 to November 2010 and has been a director of Morgan’s Food Inc. since April 2013. Norma Figueroa, a University of Texas at Arlington assistant professor of architecture, has been named a 2014 National Hispana Leadership Institute Executive Leadership Program Fellow. Sixteen Latina professionals working across the nation in the public and private sectors were named to the 2014 class. In partnership with Harvard’s Executive Education Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Center for Creative Leadership, fellows will spend a week at each institution. Participants will graduate from the four-week training, which spans over the course of nine months while at NHLI’s policy training week in Washington, D.C.

Health Care Amy Berliner is the executive director of Texas Oncology’s Dallas-Fort Worth West region. Berliner oversees Texas Oncology practices at Methodist Dallas and Methodist Charlton as well as locations in Waxahachie, Ennis, and 23 practices in the Mid-cities, Tarrant County and communities immediately west of Fort Worth. Additionally, Texas Oncology named Glenn Noble, a certified public accountant with The Noble Business Group, as executive director of the Northeast Texas region.

Honors & Awards Professor Dan Armstrong, the University of Texas at Arlington Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry, has won his second national award from the American Chemical Society. Armstrong has more than 550 scientific works to his credit and, among other accomplishments, has developed technology that will be used in a European Space Agency mission to a comet.

Nonprofit Organizations The Child Study Center promoted Duy D. Le to director of applied behavior analysis and education and Matt Robison to the position of clinical director. Duy will be responsible for directing and overseeing the Autism Services Department, Behavior Disorders Clinic and Jane Justin School. Duy served as director of Applied Behavior Analysis Services and holds the Rector Family Chair in Applied Behavior Analysis. Previously, he was a program manager for an interdisciplinary treatment team serving children and adolescents in a psychiatric hospital in Louisville, Ky. Duy is certified by Behavior Analyst Certification Board Inc. He is a council member for the Texas Association for Behavior Analysis and a member of the International Association for Behavior Analysis. In his new role, Robison will serve as the supervisor for clinical activities in the Robert W. Decker Developmental Pediatric Department and Psychology Services. Prior to that, he was the director of social work and behavior analysis coordinator. He will continue to supervise and train students in the field of social work. As a member of the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Needs Council of Tarrant County, he advocates at the state and federal level for individuals. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Performing Arts Amphibian Stage Productions welcomed Kristi Wiley as the new director of marketing and development. Wiley will lead the development and execution of the strategic marketing plan, audience development initiatives and fundraising plan. Most recently, Wiley worked for Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth as development manager.

Technology Sparkhound Inc. recently hired Meredith Martindale as its new vice president of sales, Dallas-Fort Worth. She will lead the company’s D-FW sales team, drive direct and channel sales execution for her market, help create quality customer experiences, and increase brand awareness in the D-FW IT and business communities. Before joining Sparkhound, Martindale was director of business development for Sabre Holdings, and was responsible for the business vision, strategy and execution of Sabre’s video conferencing, distribution and booking technology.

Bukosky to lead USMD’s physicians group Michael Bukosky has been appointed as executive vice president of USMD Holdings Inc. and president of Physician Practice Management. In his position, he will oversee operations of USMD’s physicians group, consisting of more than 250 physicians and associate practitioners and nearly 70 clinics across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Prior to joining USMD, Bukosky served as chief executive officer of University of Louisville Physicians in Louisville, Ky., the organization that resulted in the integration of all clinical practices of the University of Louisville School of Medicine. During his time there, Bukosky led implementation and management of the new practice group, oversaw integration of the nearly 25 individual clinical practices into a unified group and developed the new organizational, management and operations structure of the organization. Bukosky also served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Carle Clinic Association in Urbana, Ill., where he oversaw operational leadership and financial performance of the entire system. He also has more than 20 years of experience working in administration at Scott and White in Temple, Texas, including serving as the organization’s executive director. Bukosky is active in the American Medical Group Association (AMGA), and has served as the organization’s chairman of the board, secretary and treasurer.

Robert Francis
Robert is a Fort Worth native and longtime editor of the Fort Worth Business Press.
