Medical City Arlington CEO retires

Medical City Arlington CEO Winston Borland will retire March 31 after a 34-year career with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the hospital announced Jan. 6.

Borland has been with HCA since 1983 and CEO of Medical City Arlington since January 2010. Previously he was COO of Medical Center of Plano; CEO at HCA Northwest Regional Hospital, an 89-bed hospital in Corpus Christi; and VP/Group Chief Financial Officer for Epic Healthcare in Dallas covering 18 hospitals with revenues $1.2 billion.

Medical City Arlington is a 366-bed full-service, acute-care hospital in south Arlington.

“I am very grateful for a rewarding career with HCA and proud to have worked for an organization committed to providing high quality health care and improving the lives of the people we serve,” Borland said in a statement. “I am especially proud of the work accomplished by the team at Medical City Arlington. The hospital is in a strong position for continued growth and success.”

Medical City Arlington is pursuing Level II trauma status and undergoing a five-story, $60 million expansion to the existing women’s tower, which will become Medical City Arlington Women’s Hospital.

BOARDS & ORGANIZATIONS

Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Ezio Leite, Emily Orozco-Crousen and James Taylor to the Council on Sex Offender Treatment for terms set to expire on Feb. 1, 2021. The governor named Aaron Pierce presiding officer. The council sets standards for treatment and oversees the licensing of providers.

Leite of North Richland Hills is the executive director and senior clinician of Psychotherapy Services & Yokefellows. He is a clinical member of the Texas Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers. Leite received a bachelor’s degree from Dom Bosco College of Philosophy, a master of religious education from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary and a master of education from the University of North Texas.

Orozco-Crousen of Abilene is the president of Clinical and Forensic Counseling Inc. She is the executive board president for the Regional Victim Crisis Center and is a licensed professional counselor and a sex offender treatment provider. She holds bachelor’s degrees and a master of education from Tarleton State University.

Taylor of San Antonio is a licensed juvenile therapist practicing in home substance abuse counseling. He is a member of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapists and the Texas Association of Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors. He has a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and a master’s from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Pierce of Temple is the clinical director of the Clinical and Forensic Consulting Services in Waco. He is a member of the American Counseling Association, Society for Police and Criminal Psychology and the International Association for Correctional and Forensic Psychologists. Pierce received a bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, a master’s from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and a doctorate from Capella University.

Crawford Gupton has joined the Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County’s board of directors. Gupton works in business development and marketing at McKnight Title.

LAW

Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP announced in January that David H.Garza, Preston R. Mundt, Clark H. Rucker, Kim D. Uskovich and Jeff Whitfield have been elected partners of the firm.

Garza focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation. Garza practices in both state and federal courts throughout Texas. He has represented clients in industries including general contractors, health care companies, on-line travel companies, retailers and talent agencies. Garza graduated from The University of Texas School of Law in 2008 and received his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Texas Tech University.

Mundt is a trial lawyer who has served as lead counsel representing individuals, corporations and other institutional clients throughout Texas, New Mexico and abroad. Rucker focuses his practice on oil, gas and energy litigation and transactions. Rucker represents both oil and gas exploration companies, as well as land owners. Uskovich focuses her practice on creating and implementing estate plans for individuals including estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.

Whitfield represents businesses and individuals facing issues including contract disputes, election challenges, securities litigation, products and premises liability, international law issues, statutory construction and questions of constitutionality.

Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Mark Pittman of Fort Worth to the Second Court of Appeals for a term set to expire Dec. 31, 2018, or when his successor is elected.

Pittman is judge of the 352nd Judicial District Court in Tarrant County. He previously was an enforcement attorney for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, senior attorney for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Dallas Regional Office and assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Tarrant County Bar Association, Texas Bar Foundation and the American Judges Association.

Pittman is vice president and a founding member of the Tarrant County Federalist Society, associate and master for the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court and a past gubernatorial appointee to the Texas Radiation Advisory Board. He is a member of the Tarrant County Volunteer Attorney Services Committee, Fort Worth Civic Society and the St. Patrick Cathedral Knights of Columbus. Pittman received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law.

HUMAN RESOURCES

Maryanne Piña willlead the Fort Worth office of Career Management Partners (CMP) in her dual role of office leader and director of research. Most recently Piña worked for the Fort Worth Independent School District, where she was focused on building teacher capacity through literacy, dual-language content, one-on-one consultation and classroom training. CMP has opened a new office in Fort Worth in the Alliance Building at 9800 Hillwood Parkway.

REAL ESTATE

Robby Lebus has joined Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. Lebus graduated from Texas Tech University in 2014 and entered the Fort Worth real estate market. He is a member of the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors, River Crest Country Club and The Steeplechase Club.

TECHNOLOGY

TTI Inc. has appointed Chris Goodman as senior vice president finance and chief financial officer. He assumes direct responsibility for managing financial services for TTI North America, Europe and Asia.

“Chris is an accomplished senior financial executive with Big 4 background and 20 years’ experience at global technology manufacturing companies,” said Paul Andrews, CEO at TTI.
