Overheard – April 8, 2013

“We will not let this cower us. Texas is a law-and-order state and we will track down and punish those who have committed this crime.”   – Gov. Rick Perry, at a news conference about who killed a Dallas-area district attorney, his wife and an assistant prosecutor.   “Jimi [Hendrix] got high, Jimi’s dead. I went hunting, I’m still Ted.” – Rocker Ted Nugent, testifying before the Texas House Committee on Culture, Recreation & Tourism during a debate on a bill that would require deer raised in captivity to be released at least two months prior to hunting season instead of the current 10-day requirement. The “Cat Scratch Fever” rocker, who says he hunts 300 days a year, is against any restrictions.
