PAVLOV Agency hired Richard Maxwell, former assistant vice president of marketing and communications at the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T), as its transit accounts director. Maxwell will provide strategic marketing planning and account service oversight for the agency’s mass transit and transportation clients. He is the past chairman of the American Public Transit Association’s marketing and communications committee.

Balcom Agency promoted Audrey Stewart to account director. Stewart brings more than seven years of communications experience to her new role, which includes developing and implementing branding and marketing strategies for clients across multiple industries. She will also provide account direction for one of Balcom’s newest clients, Northstar Bank. She joined the agency in 2012 and was formerly an account manager.

Banking & Finance

Worthington National Bank hired Jared Treesh as senior vice president, commercial lending. Treesh has been in the banking industry for 12 years, with the last eight years in management and commercial lending. Treesh will work at Worthington’s Sundance Square location in preparation for the bank’s Westside growth plans to Edwards Ranch.

M. List Underwood Jr., head of investor relations, will retire from Regions Bank at the end of January after a 23-year career at the bank and a 43-year career in accounting and finance. Dana Nolan, associate director of investor relations since 2010 and a 27-year associate of the bank, will succeed him. Regions serves customers in 16 states across the South, Midwest and Texas.

Boards & Organizations

Hanli Liu, a University of Texas at Arlington bioengineering professor and authority in brain imaging, has been named a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. Liu will be formally inducted as a Fellow on April 4 during a ceremony at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. Liu joined the UT Arlington College of Engineering in 1996.

Chambers of Commerce

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce selected Michael Jacobson as its new president and CEO. He will join the organization in early February. Jacobson spent the past 19 years with Intel Corp., where he led the Global Corporate Responsibility Office, which is responsible for strategic philanthropy and corporate responsibility strategies. During his tenure at Intel, Jacobson managed site selection processes and represented Intel globally with government and economic development relationships. Jacobson formerly managed economic development with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, recruiting new businesses to the region. Prior to that, he served in both the George H.W. Bush and Reagan administrations.

Education

Gladys A. Childs, associate professor of religion at Texas Wesleyan University, has been named the university’s interim chaplain. She will serve through fall 2016 while the search for a permanent chaplain continues. Childs previously served as chaplain from fall 2003 to summer 2009 while teaching part time in the religion and humanities department. She stepped down from the position to teach full time.

Engineering

Peloton Land Solutions Inc. elected two new associate principals and named five employees as associates. Jonathan Ragsdale, a program manager based in Fort Worth since 2010, and Marc Paquette, operations manager in Frisco since 2011, are now shareholders of the company. New Fort Worth associates are Tim Whitefield and Brad Sicard . Both have been with Peloton since 2012. Whitefield leads the hydrology and hydraulics group, while Sicard is a project manager in the civil practice. Also newly elected as associate is Frisco-based project manager Erik Hinklin, who has been with Peloton for two years, and Austin-based project managers Jonathan Fleming and Paulo Misi.

Health Care

North Hills Hospital named Xavier Villarreal as CEO following a national search. With 18 years of health care leadership experience, Villarreal joins North Hills from CHRISTUS Health, where he most recently was vice president and chief operating officer of CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline and Memorial Hospitals in Corpus Christi. Prior to joining CHRISTUS Spohn he spent seven years as CEO of Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana and as COO at Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene. He also worked for Hillcrest HealthCare System in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for eight years; during that time he was CEO at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau, Oklahoma, and Fairfax Memorial Hospital in Fairfax, Oklahoma. He has led statewide health care efforts and currently serves on both the Texas Hospital Association and the HOSPAC boards of directors. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Honors & Awards

Texas A&M University School of Law Professor Sahar Aziz is the 2016 recipient of the Derrick A. Bell Award from the Association of American Law Schools Section on Minority Groups. The award recognizes Aziz for her contribution to legal education. Her scholarship focuses on the intersection of national security and civil rights law with an emphasis on the post-9/11 era.

Winners of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas’ 2016 International Award of Excellence in Sustainable Winegrowing competition are Les Vignerons de Buzet of Buzet-sur-Baïse, France, and Sandeman and Casa Ferreirinha of Portugal. The Buzet Cooperative won the platinum medal for its Marquis de Hautevigne, 2014. The awarded wines from Portugal were Sandeman’s Vintage Port, 2011, and Casa Ferreirinha’s Quinta Da Leda, 2011.

The 2016 Neighborhood Awards Luncheon hosted by the city of Fort Worth and Fort Worth League of Neighborhood Associations honored the following neighborhoods and individuals for their work and dedication to improving their neighborhoods: Neighborhood Newsletter Award – Eastern Hills Neighborhood Association, Villages of Sunset Pointe Homeowners Association, Ridglea North Neighborhood Association, Oakhurst Neighborhood Association; Fort Worth Pride Award – Marine Creek Ranch Homeowners Association, Ridglea North, Eastern Hills; Spirit of Fort Worth Award – Harvest Ridge Homeowners Association, Ridgmar Neighborhood Association, Heritage Homeowners Association; Mayor’s Civic Engagement and Community Collaboration Award – Greenway Neighborhood Association, Eastern Hills, Carver Heights East Neighborhood Association; Mayor’s Health and Wellness Award – Greenway, Garden of Eden Neighborhood Association, Fairmount Neighborhood Association; Neighborhood of the Year Award – Near East Side Neighborhood Association; Neighborhood Police Officer of the Year – Sergio Guadarrama; and Code Compliance Officer of the Year – Shelby Dooley.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Grapevine earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for its Total Joint Hip and Knee Replacement Program and commitment to patient care.

The North Texas Roofing Contractors Association (NTRCA) will present its annual Golden Hammer Awards during the 16th Annual NTRCA Awards Banquet on Feb. 6. Winners for Community Service Projects are Brettco Roofing for work on the Sharon Thompson residence and Supreme Roofing for work on Sunshine Village, a nonprofit organization. Commercial contractors winning a Golden Hammer are: Castro Roofing for its work on the SMU Owen Arts Center, KPost Co. for its work on the AT&T Stadium logo and Supreme Roofing for its work on Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Irving. Residential contractors being awarded a Golden Hammer are: Buzz Roofing & Construction for its work on the Guinnup residence, Roofing Giant for its work on the Schmaltz residence and Showtime Exteriors for its work on the Granger residence. Scott Exteriors will receive the second annual Green Roofing Golden Hammer Award for its work on a LEED high-efficiency home with metal roofing, trim and siding. During the event, the NTRCA 2016 board and this year’s Associate of the Year and Industry Leader winners also will be announced and honored.
