Texas Wesleyan names Granger, Veasey as trustees

Five new members joined the board of trustees at Texas Wesleyan University, including U.S. Reps. Kay Granger (R-Fort Worth) and Marc Veasey (D-Fort Worth), both graduates of the Fort Worth institution.

The other new members are the Rev. Ben Disney, Doug Compton and James E. DuBose.

Disney is the senior minister at Arborlawn United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. He was appointed in 2005 to oversee the creation of Arborlawn, which united two existing congregations.

Compton is the president of First Management Inc., founded in 1991 and based in Lawrence, Kan. The company specializes in construction and property management and is the largest manager of commercial properties in the downtown Lawrence area.

DuBose is the president and CEO of Colonial Savings, a national financial corporation headquartered in Fort Worth with more than 800 employees. He is the son of James S. DuBose, who also serves on Texas Wesleyan’s board.

Granger, a 1965 graduate of Texas Wesleyan and former mayor of Fort Worth, has represented Texas’ 12th Congressional District since 1997. She is vice chairman of the Defense Appropriations subcommittee, the top Republican on the State and Foreign Appropriations subcommittee and a member of the Appropriations subcommittee on energy and water Development.

Veasey graduated from Texas Wesleyan in 1995 and represents Texas’ 33rd Congressional District. Elected in 2012, Veasey serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

Banking & Finance

Brandon Chase joined the Fort Worth office of Raymond James & Associates. Chase and client service associate Brandy Cumberledge make up the new Beacon Hill Wealth Services of Raymond James. Chase, a certified financial planner, has more than 13 years of experience in financial planning and wealth management for families, business owners, retirees and women investors. He is also a certified divorce financial analyst who works with individuals and their legal counsel in understanding the financial complexities of divorce proceedings.

Before joining Raymond James, Chase was a financial adviser at Edward Jones. He is a past chairman and a present committee chairman of Camp Fire First Texas.

Ethan Boothe is a director in the National Private Equity Services Practice at McGladrey LLP. Boothe leads the Texas Private Equity Services Practice growth initiative, fund and portfolio relationship management, regulatory compliance monitoring, client service coordination and service delivery. Boothe has assisted private equity firms with deal flow, investment due diligence, process and profit improvement consulting, related audit and tax structuring services and carve-out support services.

Jackie Little joined Southwest Bank as vice president-mortgage loan originator. She brings more than 24 years of mortgage lending experience and will work at the Camp Bowie Mortgage Center in Fort Worth. Little previously worked at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in Southlake, where she was private mortgage branch sales supervisor for more than 11 years. Before that she worked for Prime Lending Inc. as a residential mortgage loan officer.

Boards & Organizations

Officers of the Tarrant Area Food Bank for 2015-2016 are: President Robert Drummond, senior vice president, Frost Bank; President-elect Catherine Carlton, communications director, MHMR of Tarrant County; Secretary Andrew O. Fort, professor, Texas Christian University; Secretary-elect Theresa Nash, director, Food and Nutrition Services, Cook Children’s Medical Center; Treasurer Jeff Paladini, managing partner, Karsten Advisors; and member-at-large Bill Johnson, owner, Infrared Diagnostics LLC. Joining the board are Liz Rainwater Baggs, director, admission marketing and communication, Texas Christian University, and David Michael Patin Jr., co-founder, The Patin Law Group PLLC. Other directors are Larry Anfin, Scott Bagg, Ann Farmer, Shannon D. Fletcher, Heather Kitzman-Ulrich, Linda Lawson, Ceret Leyva, Don Mills, Fred Moye, Gleniece Robinson, Gloria Starling, Rick Wollmann and Richard Zavala.

Donna Darovich has been appointed chairman of the Arlington Parks and Recreation Board. She is the board’s liaison to Keep Arlington Beautiful. Darovich is the former news director for the University of Texas at Arlington and public relations and marketing director of Tarrant County College.

Gov. Greg Abbott appointed Mike Jones, a lieutenant firefighter for the city of Burleson, to the Texas Commission on Fire Protection for a term to expire on Feb. 1, 2017. Jones serves as an adjunct fire instructor at Tarrant County College. He is a former president of the Burleson Professional Firefighters Association and a member of the Texas State Firefighters Association and the International Association of Firefighters.

Business Consulting Services

Customer analytics firm Buxton elevated Courtney Hall to vice president of marketing and culture. Hall joined Buxton in 2007, leading the company’s public relations efforts and later all marketing. Previously, she had media buying and account management roles with advertising agencies.

Engineering & Construction

Col. Calvin C. Hudson II assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District. Hudson takes over from Lt. Col. Clay A. Morgan, who assumed command on a temporary basis in March. Morgan returned to his role as the district’s deputy commander.

Hudson received his commission as an engineer officer upon graduation from Albany State University in 1994. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College, Command and General Staff College, Combined Arms Services Staff School, Ranger School and the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Course. He will manage one of the Corps’ largest military construction programs, which encompasses all design and construction on Army and Air Force installations in Texas and parts of Louisiana and New Mexico. He will also supervise the operation and maintenance of the district’s 25 lakes.

Food & Beverage

Eric B. Alexander joined Ben E. Keith Co. as associate general counsel. He will be responsible for an array of litigation and transactional matters.

Health Care

Texas Health Resources appointed Joey Sudomir as senior vice president, Innovative Technology Solutions (ITS), and chief information officer. Sudomir joined Texas Health as vice president, IT operations, in 2013 and was named deputy CIO in 2014. He joined Texas Health Partners in 2008 as vice president of IT. Before joining Texas Health, Sudomir managed operational ownership for information technology at more than 60 hospitals for a nationally known company that operates hospitals across the country. He is a certified health care CIO by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.

Television & Radio

Sandra Thomas is the new vice president of news at Telemundo 39 Dallas-Fort Worth/KXTX. Thomas began her broadcast and journalism career in 1985 at Univision. She returns to Telemundo after working as the network’s Mexico bureau chief in 1993 and as the news director for Telemundo 52 Los Angeles/KVEA from 1994-1997. Most recently, Thomas was senior director of local and affiliate news and regional news director for Northern California stations for the Univision Station Group from 2009-2013. Before this, she was news director for Univision Los Angles/KMEX and Univision San Francisco/KDTV for a combined 14 years. In addition to being a published author, Thomas has worked as a freelancer and television public affairs show host and reporter for various English-language news outlets and publications, including The Los Angeles Times, National Public Radio, NBC Nightly News and NBC4 Washington/WRC. She won an Emmy for producing a network special about poverty-stricken Latino children in the United States, two American Women in Radio and Television awards and a Mark Twain Associated Press Award for her reports about immigration topics.
