Renfro Foods finalist for U.S. Chamber award

Fort Worth-based Renfro Foods Inc. is one of seven regional finalists for the 2014 Dream BIG Small Business of the Year Award. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will recognize Renfro Foods, the six other regional finalists and 100 Blue Ribbon Award winners at the 10th annual America’s Small Business Summit, June 11-13 in Washington, D.C. During the summit, one regional finalist will be named the Dream Big Small Business of the Year and receive a $10,000 cash prize from the U.S. Chamber.

Renfro Foods is the Southwest and South Central regional finalist, and stood out among other regional companies for its exceptional business practices and community involvement, according to U.S. Chamber officials. “Renfro Foods is an example of the powerful contributions small businesses can make not only in their communities and their states, but also more broadly to the country’s economic recovery,” U.S. Chamber President and Chief Executive Office Thomas J. Donohue said in a news release.

Founded by George Renfro in 1940 and now run by second- and third-generation family members, Renfro Foods offers employees an interest-free loan program, an education allowance and a matching 401(k) plan. Company employees donate time, money and talent to numerous area charities.

Renfro Foods was also a finalist in 2012.
