Sex With Strangers, a play by Laura Eason, will being its 5 week regional run Thursday June 22nd at Stage West. The play is a smart and sexy comedy that focuses on the questions of identity in the digital age, according to a news release.
The play follows two writers, a popular blogger and a struggling author, who end up staying in the same cabin. The struggling author, Olivia Lago, starts to fall for the blogger, Ethan, when he suggests she re-releases her first book under a new name and using a pseudonym. When perfection seems near questions about their real lives in the digital age flare up.
In a news release, the Hollywood Reporter said the play was “sexually and intellectually provocative… A hell of a lot of fun!”
Olivia will be played by Dana Schultes the executive producer of Stage West and Jake Buchanan will be playing Ethan. The play is directed by the Artistic Director and Executive Producer for Orchard Theater of Texas, Jim Covault. Covault is the retired Stage West Artistic Director and Co-Producer.
The writer, Laura Eason, is a screenwriter based in Brooklyn whose theater experience ranges from stage adaptations of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer to being the former Artistic Director of Lookingglass Theater Company based in Chicago. Eason is well known for being the writer/producer of “House of Cards” on Netflix for four seasons.
