Stock Show Insider: As seen on TV – the rodeo

When the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo begins its series 36 rodeo shows on Friday, fans will view the action from massive screens that hang high in the middle of the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum Arena.

Workers hung the screen and lights in the coliseum on Tuesday. During a two-hour rodeo performance, fans will be able to watch the action up close from four 16-by-9-foot screens.

“The large screens are one of the tools in our toolbox that allows us to bring fans closer to the action and to engage the fan throughout the performance,” said Matt Brockman, the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo’s publicity manager. “Rodeo is a sport where there are bursts of action, followed by lull time such as when a bull rider is getting ready to call for the gate. So, the big screens allow us to take other technology such as video, sound and music to keep the fan engaged in what’s happening on the arena floor and to keep them engaged throughout the entire two-hour performance.”

Stock Show officials began using the four screens two years ago.

The Stock Show will begin its series shows on Friday with the Best of the West Ranch Rodeo, the first of the 36 rodeo performances that are scheduled from Jan. 13 through Feb. 4. The closing rodeo performance is Feb. 4, which is the final round of the Stock Show’s traditional Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association show.

For more rodeo performance information, call the rodeo’s ticket office at 817-877-2420. Tickets also can be purchased online through Ticketmaster.

The Rodeo Ticket Office is open for walk-up orders Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. The Ticket Office is located at 3401 West Lancaster, directly in front of the Will Rogers Tower. Credit cards and cash are accepted at the ticket office.
