Stock Show Insider: Cuts like a knife

CUTCO kitchen knives representatives Roger Rodriguez (left) of Dallas and Calvin Loper of Plano help a Fort Worth Stock Show patron learn about their products. Within the booth, a sign says, “As Seen on the History Channel. World’s Sharpest Knives.”

Looking for a sharp kitchen knife that’ll last?

Fort Worth Stock Show patrons can get their hands on a very sharp knife by visiting the CUTCO booth in the Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall.

Within the booth, there’s a sign that says, “As Seen on the History Channel. World’s Sharpest Knives.”

That’s a pretty big claim. But there’s an excerpt on the internet about the high quality of the New York-based company’s knives. The CUTCO product was featured on the History Channel’s “Modern Marvels” TV series. The excerpt easily can be found and it lasts more than 6 minutes.

CUTCO products also were featured on the Travel Channel’s TV series “John Ratzenberger’s Made in America.” The excerpt lasts 9 minutes.

But which knives were they talking about on the History Channel? There are straight edge knives and tooth edge knives.

“We’re talking about our straight edge knives that were featured on the History Channel,” said Roger Rodriguez of Dallas who is selling the CUTCO knives at the Stock Show. “We hand hone all of our knives. That means that the people in our factory put the edges on the knives.”

Within the History Channel’s excerpt, the commentator says CUTCO claims to produce the world’s sharpest kitchen knife. But the excerpt also illustrates in detail how CUTCO goes about producing a very strong, sharp knife. It also shows how the knives are tested to make sure they stand out.

At the Stock Show, the CUTCO knives (individually) can be purchased for between $30 and $184. Knife sets start at $300.
