Tandy Leather Factory Inc. of Fort Worth has reported September sales of $6.1 million, down 5 percent compared to $6.5 million in the same month last year.
“This continues to be a challenging environment with lower sales volumes and store traffic than what we’d like to see this time of year,” said CEO Shannon L. Greene, commenting in a news release.
“However, as we head into the fourth quarter, we expect to open several new stores in markets that we believe will help us gain market share and contribute positively to our top line over time,” Greene said.
The company’s Retail Leathercraft division saw sales drop 3 percent to $4 million compared to $4.1 million in the same month last year.
Meanwhile, sales for Wholesale Leathercraft dropped to $1.8 million for September 2016, down 9 percent compared to $2 million in the same month last year.
Sales for the company’s International Leathercraft division dropped 3 percent, from $321,000 in September 2015 to $312,000 in the same month this year.
