The National Association of Sports Commissions (NASC) has selected Fort Worth as the host city for the 2022 NASC Sports Event Symposium, a news release said.
The Symposium is set to take place April 29 – May 6, 2022 and is expected to bring more than 250 national governing bodies and event rights holders, along with more than 750 sports commissions and CVBs, to Fort Worth.
In the weeks leading up to the Symposium, the American Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Championships, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball 1st & 2nd Rounds and the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships will take place at the new Dickies Arena.
“We could not be more excited for NASC to select Fort Worth as the 2022 host city,” Jason Sands, director of sports at Visit Fort Worth, said in the release. “We look forward to the opportunity to showcase all the amazing things Fort Worth has to offer.”
Visit Fort Worth says that development of the city’s sports product is a major initiative of theirs as plans near for a citywide evaluation of youth and amateur venues.
“Fort Worth’s sports profile is rising, and we are delighted the commissioners selected our city for their annual meeting,” Bob Jameson, Visit Fort Worth president/CEO, said in the release. “Our downtown and Sundance Square offer one of the best convention experiences in the country.”
The conference is expected to book 4,000 room nights and bring more than $1.6 million in economic impact to the city. For more information, visit sportscommissions.org.
