‘Watchdog’ goes east

Former Fort Worth Star-Telegram consumer watchdog columnist Dave Lieber has been hired by The Dallas Morning News. Known for his twice-weekly “Watchdog” column in the Star-Telegram until being laid off in January, Lieber will bring what he calls his “Watchdog Nation common sense” to the Dallas newspaper. “Dave has one of the most trusted voices in North Texas and our newsroom is honored to have him here,” said Morning News Editor Bob Mong, commenting in a news release. Lieber said he looks forward to his new Dallas duties. “Although I was at the Star-Telegram, I have always admired the newsroom, reputation and writers of the Morning News,” Lieber said. “Bob [Mong] shared with me the paper’s dedication to consumer support and advocacy, which is why I’m thrilled ‘The Watchdog’ has a new home up the road on I-30.” Lieber’s debut column with the Morning News will be published on Friday, May 31. His column will run Fridays and Sundays.
