Whitley Penn Announces New Partners

Fort Worth, TX (January 3, 2018) – Whitley Penn is pleased to announce that Clint Crane, Camron Harris, Robert Metz, Brett Murphy, Elizabeth Pettijohn, and Justin Roberts have been invited into the partnership effective January 1, 2018.

Clint Crane, CPA, joined the firm in 2016 as a Tax Senior Manager in our Dallas office after holding several leadership roles at other firms. Since joining the firm he has continued to excel in providing tax consulting services to middle-market clients and is part of the Whitley Penn Tax Policy Committee. Working in these areas, Clint has a clear understanding of the nuances necessary to serve clients with a wide range of sophistication and resources. His understanding of tax implications of transactions and other financial considerations has made him a trusted business advisor both internally and externally. Clint has a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Camron Harris, CPA, joined the Dallas Audit department of Whitley Penn in 2004. Since then his career experience has included serving public and private clients in the following industries: real estate; professional services; manufacturing and distribution; oil and gas; private equity; and, employee benefit plans. As a manager, Camron also represented the firm as a Secondee and was on assignment in London working with our Nexia member firm, Smith & Williamson. Camron is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Arts degree in Accounting and Management. He is active in the following professional and civic organizations: The Movember Foundation; The Real Estate Council; the North Dallas Chamber – Your Professionals Group; the Dallas Regional Chamber – Young Professionals Group; the Texas Tech Alumni Association; the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants; and, the Alpha Kappa Psi Alumni.

Robert Metz, CPA/ABV, CFE, joined the firm in 2011 as a Senior Associate in the Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services group where his career has steadfastly progressed. Since joining the firm, Robert, who recently transferred to our Austin office, has provided outstanding client service and contributed to the growth of the firm and his respective department. Robert specializes in valuations of businesses, forensic/fraud investigations, damages and lost profits calculations, and tracing and characterization of assets. He has represented the firm in many high-profile cases where his technical knowledge and business acumen were key in resolving a myriad of complex accounting and valuation concerns. He has provided expert witness testimony at depositions, hearings, and trials and assisted with numerous settlement negotiations. Robert is a graduate of Brigham Young University with the Bachelor of Science and Master of Accountancy degrees. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Accredited in Business Valuation, and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Robert is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Brett Murphy, CPA, joined the firm in 2014 as an Audit Manager in the Dallas office and was promoted to Senior Manager in 2015. Prior to joining Whitley Penn, Brett was with another local firm where he dedicated his career to serving financial industry clients such as commercial banks, mortgage companies, bank holding companies, and savings and loan associations. Additionally, Brett has worked with both publicly-traded and privately-held companies, in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, infrastructure companies and employee benefit plans. Brett is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. He is a leader in the Financial Institutions industry and is an active member in the following professional organizations: the Texas Bankers Association; the Leadership Division of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas; the Board of Directors for the North Texas Risk Management Association (RMA); and, is a member of the TSCPA and AICPA. Brett is also active in serving his local community and has served as a Special Olympics Certified Coach for several years. Brett and his family will be re-locating to Austin, Texas, to continue the execution of the Firm’s audit growth strategy into the Austin market as a result of the acquisition of Midwikis Granger in early 2017.

Elizabeth Pettijohn, CPA, joined the firm in 2013 as a Tax Senior Manager in the Dallas office after serving in several tax leadership roles at other organizations. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has honed high-level technical understanding in the areas of partnerships, REITs and complex tiered structures that include partnerships, C corporations, Sub S corporations, REITs and LLCs. She has expanded the firm’s capabilities as it relates to private-equity owned clients, clients with complex flow-through structures, REITs and MLPs. Elizabeth is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Arts and Master of Science degree in Accounting. She is an active member in the Commercial Real Estate Women, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Justin Roberts, CPA, joined Whitley Penn in 2006 and has experienced his entire professional career at the firm. Over the last twelve years, Justin has served in the Dallas Audit Department and has had extensive experience advising clients on generally-accepted accounting principles, SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley issues. Justin has dedicated his career to the oil and gas industry as well as serving a variety of public and private companies. Justin graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Arts degree in Finance. He has held several board positions and been active in the following organizations: the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society; the North American Petroleum Accounting Conference; the Texas CPA Society Oil and Gas Conference; the University of North Texas Accounting Advisory Board; Young Professionals in Energy – Dallas Chapter; ADAM Energy – Dallas Chapter; and, BC&B.
