The Wood Products Council’s WoodWorks program is hosting seminars in San Antonio and Austin that will explore both practical and inspirational elements of heavy timber construction. This presentation will focus on the use of heavy timber in applications such as offices and schools, as well as civic, industrial, mid-rise/multi-residential and other building types. Examples of award winning projects, ranging from typical to unique, will be used to demonstrate the range of modern timber design solutions and wood’s ability to provide unlimited aesthetic opportunities for almost any building type. The seminar will include a review of non-structural provisions of the International Building Code (IBC), and a discussion of structural component and connection methods available. Attendees will discover common design elements and connection options for heavy timber framing and non-traditional uses for heavy timber that offer unique design solutions. Attendees can earn 2.0 AIA/CES CEHs (HSW) credits. |
