The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth announced that Osiris Estrada, Ph.D., of San Antonio, and Eddie Norgard of New Jersey have joined the YMCA team as District Executive Directors. The nonprofit organization serves Tarrant, Hood and Johnson counties with programs that empower youth, improve health and inspire social responsibility.
Estrada and Norgard were hired to support the YMCA as it embarks on an ambitious effort to enhance its presence and find innovative ways to serve well-being across the region. That includes investing in people, facilities, programs and partnerships across the public, private, nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. Estrada will lead the association’s Northpark and Northwest YMCAs and Norgard will oversee the Amon G. Carter, Jr. Downtown YMCA, the Ryan Family YMCA, and the Sports Complex. The two will be involved in promoting youth development, healthy living and inclusion for all community members.
Estrada earned a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio and has worked in the health and wellness industry for more than a decade. Most recently, he served as the Association Director of Wellness and Personal Training at the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, where he was responsible for driving health and wellness operational growth, member experience and retention, new program development and strategic collaborations with key community partners.
“We are thrilled to have Osiris join our team,” said Mike Brown, president and CEO. “Osiris brings over a decade of progressive management and leadership experience in the fitness, sports and nonprofit industries where he has demonstrated profound dedication and effectiveness. His YMCA journey spans seven years, which makes him well prepared to provide strategic leadership to the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth.”
Estrada said he is committed to fostering a culture of innovation and community engagement in his new role. “I had wonderful mentors along the way who have instilled in me the value of collaboration and servant leadership,” he said. “I intend to use those values to positively impact the lives of youth and families that the YMCA serves in our communities.”
Norgard, originally from New Jersey, earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Colorado State University with a double concentration in Marketing Management and Organizational Leadership, and is a SHRM Certified Professional — a national competency-based human resources certification. He has served the YMCA community for more than nine years and currently chairs the national Empowered Leaders Resource Network at YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), the parent organization for YMCAs across the United States. Norgard was nationally recognized in 2019 as a Y-USA 30 Under 30 recipient, an award presented for outstanding achievement in YMCA operations and community building. He also chairs the MBA Advisory Council at Colorado State University’s College of Business, is an accreditation volunteer with the American Camp Association, and previously served as the marketing and social engagement committee chair for the Y-USA Emerging Multicultural Leadership Experience — a national conference designed for the professional development of YMCA multicultural leaders. Norgard graduated from the Y-USA Multicultural Executive Career Advancement (MECA) program shortly before assuming his new role.
“We are delighted to welcome Eddie to Fort Worth and look forward to the significant impact he will make on our community,” Brown said. “He is a dynamic leader with a proven track record in recreational program management, administrative leadership and daily operations. He brings fresh perspectives, strategic vision and energetic leadership to our team.”
Norgard said he is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging in the Fort Worth community. “I feel that my life’s purpose is to love and empower others in honor of those who loved and believed in me early on in my career,” he said.
