Additional Details: LOCAL ZONTA CLUB TO TAKE STAND AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE On Monday, NOVEMBER 25TH, Zonta Club of Fort Worth will present a “Zonta Says NO” exhibit displaying a pair of shoes representing each of the 114 Texas women murdered in 2012 by their intimate partners and 5 pair of children’s shoes for the children murdered with them. This free outdoor exhibit will be held in front of the Tarrant County 1895 Courthouse on Weatherford Street from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Information about each woman and child will be included in the exhibit, and orange “Zonta Says NO” wristbands will be distributed to the first two hundred people in attendance. NOVEMBER 25TH starts “16 Days of Activism.” 16 Days of Activism is a global campaign to raise awareness about gender-based violence as a human rights issue at the local, national, regional and international levels, and to demonstrate the solidarity of women around the world organizing in opposition to violence against women. ( “We must engage ourselves and our community to raise awareness and increase actions to end violence against women and girls and together we can make a difference,” states President of Zonta Club of Fort Worth Vicki-Saylor Probes. Zonta International, founded in 1919, is a global organization of 1,184 clubs in 65 countries with over 30,000 executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Established in 1927, Zonta Club of Fort Worth is dedicated to carrying out the Mission of Zonta International in our community by raising funds for local and international service and advocacy projects, and getting involved in our community with hands-on service work.
