American Heart Association names new Chief Administrative Officer

DALLAS – The American Heart Association (AHA), the world’s leading voluntary health organization devoted to fighting cardiovascular disease, has named a key senior executive to its nationwide leadership team.

Larry Cannon, a veteran corporate attorney and finance executive will be tasked with driving enhanced operational performance on an enterprise basis while achieving improvements in business efficiencies, the organization said in a news release.

Cannon joins the AHA at the 93-year-old non-profit organization’s national headquarters in Dallas.

Cannon served most recently as the chief administrative officer, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary for FTS International Inc. in Fort Worth. FTS International is the largest private oil and gas well completion company in North America, with operations in China.

American Heart Association CEO Nancy Brown said the AHA is an increasingly global organization, and that Cannon’s business rigor and experience will aid in creating greater operating efficiencies and a greater impact.

Cannon said in the news release that he looks “forward to implementing the best practices I’ve learned from my corporate career as well as new innovative approaches to establish new strategies for the American Heart Association.”

Cannon began his career as a certified public accountant with Ernst & Young LLP. He is an alumnus of Baylor University in Waco and the DePaul University College of Law in Chicago.
