McKinney EDC president resigns, Abby Liu named interim president

The McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced Tuesday, Jan. 16, Darrell Auterson has resigned his position as president.

“I have had the pleasure of working with an extremely dynamic board and city. I appreciate the opportunity I have had over these past couple of years to lead the MEDC,” Auterson said. “However, my wife and children reside back home in Pennsylvania and my return is necessary in light of a health issue affecting our family.”

As he steps down, the MEDC has named Abby Liu as interim president.

Chairman Jason K. Burress said, Austerson served the community well during his time as MEDC president.

“McKinney’s strategic position in economic development is more focused and has tremendous momentum due to Darrell’s and our board’s efforts,” Burress said. “Our board has great respect for Darrell and the meaningful projects and strategic victories we have achieved in McKinney in the past couple of years are reflective of the vision of this board and hard work and dedication of our excellent staff.”

Recent MEDC projects include the corporate headquarters for Independent Bank and Playful Corp. and the PACCAR/Dynacraft facility.
