True Food Kitchen opens in Plano

True Food Kitchen

True Food Kitchen, the seasonally inspired health-driven restaurant, has opened in Plano at Legacy West. Co-founded by integrative medicine specialist Dr. Andrew Weil and eight-time James Beard Award nominee for Restaurateur of the Year Sam Fox, the restaurant’s progressive and flavor-forward menu is rooted in the principles of Dr. Weil’s anti-inflammatory food pyramid. The opening of True Food Kitchen Plano marks the brand’s second restaurant in the Dallas area with additional Texas locations in Houston and Austin.

Executive Chef David Laser leads the Plano culinary team, working closely with Weil to develop seasonal menu items with nutrient-rich ingredients. Using Weil’s anti-inflammatory food pyramid as the foundation for the menu, Laser crafts wholesome, flavorful food with simple preparations for a menu that rotates regularly to let guests experience great-tasting ingredients at the peak of their freshness.

“We look forward to sharing a taste of True with Plano,” said CEO Christine Barone. “There’s quite a bit of growth happening at Legacy West, so we’re excited for the opportunity to give the folks of Plano another reason to visit this dining and retail destination.”

Open daily for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch, True Food Kitchen’s vibrant menu rotates regularly to allow guests the opportunity to experience great-tasting menu items, including a variety of gluten-free, naturally organic, vegetarian, and vegan offerings prepared using the season’s ripest ingredients at the peak of freshness. At True Food Kitchen, guests will find a variety of signature dishes like the Spaghetti Squash Casserole with organic tomato, caramelized onion, zucchini, and fresh mozzarella; the Inside Out Quinoa Burger with hummus, tzatziki, tomato, cucumber, red onion, avocado, and feta; and the Scottish Steelhead with smoked onion farro, arugula, roasted beet, and cilantro pumpkin seed pesto in addition to flavorful and healthful bowls, salads, pizzas, and antioxidant-packed desserts.

The restaurant’s scratch bar is brimming with freshly pressed juice, local beer, wine, and a seasonal selection of handcrafted cocktails like the Citrus Skinny Margarita, featuring Ixa organic tequila, muddled citrus, mint, and cucumber. True Food Kitchen will also debut its new spring cocktail, the Blueberry Royale, made with organic vodka, lemon, prosecco, and mint.

True Food Kitchen Plano occupies an 8,975-square-foot space, which includes indoor and outdoor patio seating, and sits perched in the brand new Legacy West shopping center. Boasting a lively dining room with an open kitchen, True Food Kitchen was designed to bring guests closer to the culinary team’s craft. Natural woods and vibrant, locally inspired artwork add a contemporary touch to the earthy color scheme, natural elements and greenery, including indoor / outdoor garden basins filled with fresh herbs and spices. Eco-friendly materials are utilized throughout the restaurant including hardwood floors made of reclaimed wood and dining chairs made of recycled soda bottles. The Plano location will also feature a private dining room available for small to mid-sized private group gatherings and events.
