Arlington will get a taste of the Brazilian steakhouse trend on July 21 when Chamas do Brazil (Portuguese for Flames of Brazil) opens its doors. Located at 4606 S. Cooper St., the steakhouse features 15 skewered grilled cuts of meat served by gauchos (Portuguese for cowboy), a salad bar with more than 50 freshly prepared vegetables and traditional side dishes, and 150 domestic and international wines.

Paulo Generoso, gaucho and co-owner of the restaurant, grew up in Southern Brazil and brings this unique food preparation style handed down by generations of his family. “I handpicked gauchos from all over the country and brought them to Arlington to ensure the quality of the food. They are dressed in traditional black baggy gaucho pants, boots and maroon colored camisas (shirts), but there is one thing that is distinctly Texan about our outfits. Gaucho scarves are usually red or white, ours are blue, the same hue in the Lone Star flag,” Generoso said. Chamas do Brazil is open for dinner seven days a week and offers private meeting rooms for up to 40 people. This is the first Chamas do Brazil location.
