Legoland Discovery Center in Grapevine plans to open a new water-themed component in August – Pirate Beach.

Aimed at children from three to 10 years of age, the new water playground features more than 30 interactive gadgets pumping and spraying thousands of gallons of water. Located outdoors near the Lego City: Forest Ranger Pursuit ride, the 10,000-square-foot addition is the 12th permanent attraction in Legoland Discovery Center Dallas/Fort Worth, and the second added in the last two years.

“Pirate Beach has three things we know will be a hit with children: pirates, LEGO bricks and water,” said Iain Scouller, regional general manager at the center. “This exciting addition to our rapidly growing attraction is the first water playground of its kind at any Legoland Discovery Center in the world.” The $12-million, 35,000-square-foot indoor attraction is the second Legoland Discovery Center venue to open in the U.S. and the fifth in the world. National ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’ is Sept. 19, so the new feature will be ready for land lubbers for that special day.
