The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth has announced a new exhibit featuring works form the private collection of Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass.
Set for March 1-May 24, 2015, the exhibit will feature paintings and sculptures amassed by the two pillars of Texas philanthropy and business.
Among the 37 works will be a pair of paintings by Van Gogh, Street in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, 1888, and Enclosed Field with Plowman; and a still life by Picasso, Fruit Dish, Bottle, and Guitar, 1923. Also on view will be paintings by Monet, Pissarro, Renoir, Vuillard, Bonnard, Matisse, Miró, Léger, Chagall and Rothko, as well as sculptures by Rodin, Maillol and Segal.
“Mr. and Mrs. Bass assembled an extraordinary collection, and, until now, very few of the works have ever been seen in a public forum,” said Eric M. Lee, Kimbell director in a news release.
“This is a remarkable occasion for the Museum, and we’re grateful to the Bass family for their generosity in providing this exhibition,” Lee said.
Sid R. Bass, eldest son of Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass, echoed that sentiment.
“My brothers and I are honored to have our parents’ collection at the Kimbell and are so pleased to have the opportunity to share their art with others,” Bass said.
Perry Richardson Bass, the nephew of Texas oilman Sid W. Richardson, married Nancy Lee, a Fort Worth native, in 1941. The couple had four sons, Sid Richardson Bass, Edward Perry Bass, Robert Muse Bass and Lee Marshall Bass, who collectively have provided leadership and philanthropy to organizations nationwide, including redeveloping downtown Fort Worth.
Admission will be free to the exhibition.
