Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl sticks with Mountain West

The Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will continue its strong partnership with the Mountain West Conference through 2019, officials said Oct. 17. Under the extended agreement, the Mountain West Conference will send a team to Fort Worth twice over the next six years, once in 2015 and again in 2019. “The Mountain West has been a big reason why we have had so much success with our game through the years,” said Brant Ringler, executive director of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. “We are looking forward to a continued relationship and the opportunity to host quality teams here in Fort Worth.”

Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson said member institutions appreciate the opportunity to play in the Metroplex “and the renovated Amon G. Carter Stadium is a tremendous venue to showcase our teams.” Per a recently announced agreement, MW will face off against a school from the Big Ten in both 2015 and 2019. A team from the Mountain West has participated in five of the last seven games, with the bowl hosting Air Force four times.

This year’s 11th annual Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will feature a school from the Mountain West versus the U.S. Naval Academy, pending bowl eligibility. The game will be played on Dec. 30, 2013, in Fort Worth. ESPN and ESPN Radio will air the game with a 10:45 a.m. (CT) kickoff from Amon G. Carter Stadium on the campus of Texas Christian University.
