CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) – Country star Blake Shelton thanked military veterans for their service by doing a private concert aboard a retired warship in Texas.

Shelton performed Monday at the Lexington Museum On The Bay in Corpus Christi.

More than 2,000 visitors were treated to the free concert aboard the Lexington. The U.S. aircraft carrier was decommissioned in 1991.

Veterans organizations were notified about a week ago of the event sponsored by Pepsi. Museum executive director Rocco Montesano says the concert was a great way to honor veterans, plus showcase the ship and Corpus Christi.

Messages left Tuesday with PepsiCo Inc. were not immediately returned.
