Free events announced for 2017 Cliburn competition Subscriptions and single tickets on sale now

The Cliburn has announced the festival schedule of the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, which takes place May 25–June 10, 2017, at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth.

Included are a variety of free public programs aimed at different audiences, including a giant-screen simulcast in Sundance Square Plaza of the June 9–10 performances and a public after-party with Adonis Rose and the Fort Worth Jazz Orchestra, The Cliburn said in a news release.

Other events include symposia with visiting dignitaries from the National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S. State Department, and with award-winning author Stuart Isacoff, American Public Media’s Fred Child, and Elliott Forrest of WQXR (New York), among others; two public performances of the semi-staged musical production Van Cliburn: An American Hero; and master classes with three Competition jurors.

Competition subscription packages are now available at the Platinum Box Tier ($3,000), Platinum Circle Orchestra ($2,500), Golden Circle Orchestra ($2,000), Mezzanine ($1,000), and Gallery ($600) levels. Single tickets also are on sale now.

The competition also will feature a fully produced webcast live from Fort Worth from May 25–June 10, 2017, with more than 110 hours of live broadcasts of performances, interview segments, and awards ceremonies over the 17-day period.

The final round will be broadcast in cinemas around the United States. The one-day event 2017 Cliburn Competition LIVE in Cinemas will highlight the six finalists. The cinema debut is in partnership with Fathom Events.
