Cliburn

A documentary following musicians competing in the 2013 Cliburn Competition will air Friday at 8 p.m. on PBS, according to a press release.

Virtuosity premiered at Bass Performance Hall in November 2014 as part of the Lone Star Film Festival. Several international film festivals in cities such as Seattle, Minneapolis St. Paul and Palm Springs also screened the film.

The documentary follows 30 competitors from around the world, with Sean Chen and Steven Lin from the United States. The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra was one of the collaborators during the film, along with Maestro Leonard Slatkin and the Brentano String Quartet.

Academy Award nominee Christopher Wilkinson directed the film. His screenplay, Nixon, was nominated for Best Original Screenplay in 1995. He also penned the films Ali (2001) and Copying Beethoven (2006). Along with Virtuosity, he directed The Miles Davis Documentary in 2014.
