Col. Schenecker speaking at Fort Worth Country Day

Fort Worth Country Day (FWCD) is celebrating the 10th year of the Capt. David R. “Chip” Herr Jr. Memorial Lecture, featuring Fort Worth-native and FWCD graduate Col. Parker B. Schenecker as its keynote speaker.

Schenecker is a retired U.S. Army colonel who served as a senior leader and strategist in the U.S. intelligence community, responsible for support to U.S. and Allied defense and counter-terrorism efforts throughout the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, FWCD said in a news release.

His presentation is titled “Profiles in Resiliency,” and is free and open to the public.

While Schenecker was serving on a time-sensitive deployment to Afghanistan in 2011, his two children – Calyx and Beau – were murdered by their mother.

Immediately upon returning and laying his children to rest, he made a promise to remember how his children lived, not how they died, and founded the Calyx & Beau Schenecker Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships and youth character development training.

The Chip Herr Memorial Lecture at Fort Worth Country Day celebrates the life and extraordinary military service, leadership and heroism of Herr a member of the class of 1980. The lecture series provides FWCD students and the community with models of service – men and women who make sacrifices each day as public servants and who continue to shoulder the burdens of command in the dangerous and complicated 21st century.
