Dallas-area veteran reunited with his military dog

DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas-area veteran who served in Afghanistan and his bomb-sniffing military dog have been reunited.

Former Marine Sgt. Robert Hulsey of Garland was at Dallas Love Field on Tuesday to pick up the black Labrador named Jjoe (joe).

Hulsey, his wife and their infant son are making a home for Jjoe now that the dog has retired from military duty. The duo last served together in Afghanistan in 2011 and Hulsey sought to adopt his canine buddy.

The nonprofit groups Mission K-9 Rescue and the American Humane Association helped put together the reunion that makes Hulsey the dog’s official owner.
