Even Fort Worth Zoo animals want to beat Dallas

Fort Worth Zoo MOLA

Animals can’t vote, but people can.

The Fort Worth Zoo’s Museum of Living Art (MOLA) has been named to the USA Today’s list of Best Zoo Exhibits in the country.

But at the moment, some zoo to the east of Fort Worth and their Giants of the Savanna exhibit is ranked No. 3, while MOLA is ranked No. 4.

Voting for Best Zoo Exhibits continues through April 27. In an email sent out to its mailing list, Michael Fouraker, executive director, said, “We’re thrilled that it is the only herp house to make the list — let’s put it on top.”

If you haven’t visited MOLA, it’s considered one of the world’s best herpetariums. It showcases more than 100 species of reptiles and amphibians in a 30,000-square-foot facility. Hand-painted murals line the walls, and the habitats for some of the world’s most exotic and endangered creatures fill the gallery-like space with living, breathing works of art. Visitor favorites include North America’s largest saltwater crocodile (measuring 15 feet), a 15.5-foot Burmese python, a king cobra and yellow-spotted climbing toads.
