DALLAS (AP) — Food, fun and football await visitors to the State Fair of Texas.
The annual expo opened Friday in Dallas with the theme of “Deep in the Heart of Texans.”
It’s the 51st year for the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps to perform at the fair, which runs through Oct. 19.
Some award-winning food offerings include funnel cake ale and fried Gulf shrimp boil. Other delicacies range from chicken-fried loaded baked potato to twisted Texas tacos.
Free entertainment includes the Swon Brothers on Friday night and Grammy award-winner Fantasia on Saturday. Kool & the Gang will perform Oct. 4.
Football at the Cotton Bowl includes Grambling State vs. Prairie View A&M on Saturday. The Texas-Oklahoma game is Oct. 11.
