Twenty-seven Allstate agency owners and licensed sales professionals from the Dallas-Fort Worth area came together to secure a $27,000 Allstate Foundation Helping Hands grant to benefit Tarrant Area Food Bank, according to a news release.
The agency owners and licensed sales professionals earned $1,000 each for TAFB by assisting in the community garden and in the food bank kitchen. TAFB will use the $27,000 grant to further its work by providing food, education and resources through innovation and collaboration.
“As small business owners and community leaders, Allstate agency owners and financial specialists see firsthand the opportunities and challenges facing the communities they serve,” said Larry Sedillo, Allstate field senior vice president, in the release. “Giving back is core to who we are, which is why we’re proud to volunteer and raise funds to improve the lives of people across Texas.”
TAFB is one of thousands of organizations this year to receive Allstate Foundation Helping Hands grants secured by agency owners and financial specialists on behalf of the nonprofits where they volunteer. The grants support organizations addressing domestic violence, youth empowerment, disaster preparedness, hunger and other causes.
Since its 1952 founding, The Allstate Foundation has contributed more than $400 million to support community nonprofits. Additionally, in 2016 alone, the organization contributed just under $19 million in grants to nonprofits and gave more than $25 million to charitable causes.
