Great Harvest Bread

Local resident and TCU grad, Jon Davis, will open the doors to his long anticipated Great Harvest Bakery at this Friday.

Located next door to Avoca Coffee Roasters, the gray building with blue trim, has become the home to Great Harvest Bread Co., a 40-year old bakery-café franchise that makes fresh bread daily from scratch, and is now offering a new line of delicious sandwiches, soups, salads and pastries for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Dubbed “Bread Heaven” by fanatic customers since 1976, Great Harvest Bread bakeries make bread from scratch with whole grains milled right on the premises. Generally a five-hour process, the baking begins every day as early as 2:30 a.m.

Great Harvest Bread will also offer healthy breakfasts, sandwiches, dinners and desserts.

Stop by in the morning for fresh breads, muffins and cinnamon rolls, or at lunch and dinner for items such as deli sandwiches, including 100 percent natural, nitrate-free meats or chicken and tuna salad, roast beef and vegan varieties all made on fresh bread made throughout the day.

“We are excited to bring the great people of Fort Worth Great Harvest Bread and look forward to being integrated in the community,” Davis said. “We will continue to work with local businesses for fresh ingredients, mill our own wheat in-house and make everything from scratch on a daily basis to deliver the quality products that this town deserves.”

While much of the world has gotten used to mass manufacturing of processed bread and sandwiches, Great Harvest Bread continues to mill its own high-quality wheat and bake fresh bread by hand, from scratch daily. The wheat berries that are grinded at Great Harvest locations are ordered from local family-owned farms in Montana and offer every customer a sample slice of available bread, hot out of the oven.

The new Great Harvest Bread location will open Feb. 3 and will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
