The “Sharks” liked it and maybe Fort Worth will too.

Cincinnati-based restaurant Tom+Chee will open its second Texas location – and first in Fort Worth – on Wed., March 2, in the Fort Worth/Alliance area.

The 74-seat, 2,500-square-foot restaurant is located at 8901 Tehama Ridge Parkway, Suite 137. An additional 20 seats will be accessible outside.

“Since our first location opened in Richardson this past July, we’ve seen the community dive into this fun, fresh menu, and we’ve received a very positive response to the comfort food concept,” said local franchisees Greg and Wendy Sippel in a news release. “We’re excited to open our second store, and can’t wait to show more and more customers what it means to ‘Eat What’s Fun.’”

Specializing in tomato soup and grilled cheese, Tom+Chee is known for its fresh ingredients and quirky takes on comfort food classics. From the vegetarian Hippy+Chee to the offbeat Grilled Cheese Donut, Tom+Chee offers a variety of grilled cheese sandwiches, plus salads, three versions of tomato soup, and specials. The entire menu is made fresh, with no fryers, freezers or microwaves, and offers a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

Originally started as a food tent in Cincinnati, Tom+Chee has enjoyed explosive growth since the founders pitched their business on ABC’s “Shark Tank” in May 2013. The Tom+Chee franchise is rapidly growing and currently has 170 stores under contract in 20 states, including Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, Colorado and Georgia. Tom+Chee was co-founded by former restaurant manager Trew Quackenbush and his wife Jennifer Quackenbush, and entrepreneur Corey Ward and his wife Jenny Rachford.

In addition to the grand opening event, the store will host a charity event at its new location in Alliance, on Monday, Feb. 29, from 5–8 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit Meals On Wheels Inc. of Tarrant County, a local nonprofit dedicated to delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating needed services to homebound elderly and disabled residents of Tarrant County. Tom+Chee will serve tasty bite size sandwich samples of a variety of menu items. There are 200 tickets available at $20 per person, with seatings at 5 pm, 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. For more information, or to buy tickets online, visit www.mealsonwheels.org/events/tomchee.

The Alliance Tom+Chee will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
