The first Tarrant County location of Unrefined Bakery will be opening in the Hulen Heights shopping center, next to Goodwill and across from Chik-fil-A at 3250 Hulen Street # 130.
“We are so excited to come to Fort Worth,” says Taylor Nicholson co-owner of Refined Bakery. Along with her mother Anne Hoyt, Nicholson founded the successful Dallas bakery specializing in gluten free, vegan and paleo offerings to meet the dietary needs of a growing fan-base.
“We have wanted to move west for years, in order to provide our gluten free and organic goods to the other portion of DFW. We spent a long time searching for the right spot,” Nicholson said. “We are thrilled to open and serve the wonderful people of greater Fort Worth with all Unrefined has to offer.”
Nicholson and Hoyt were both diagnosed with Celiac’s disease. Unlike most people with the disorder, who had simply learned to live without breads and baked goods, the duo quickly went to work re-creating old family recipes to meet their new dietary restrictions.
They ended up creating new recipes that take allergen-free baking to a whole new level and that have made their Dallas-based brand such a draw. There are currently five locations, three in Dallas, one in Frisco and one in Rockwall.
Nicholson and Hoyt are currently in the hiring phase, getting their front of house staff fully trained. Nicholson calls them Unrefined “Guides” who will be able to educate customers and guide them to the treats that meet their specific needs. Unlike at most bakeries − good nutrition is the key at Unrefined Bakery.
They hope to be open before the end of June. “We will announce on social media the night before we plan to open, but by next weekend, we will be open,” she says.
“We most likely won’t open with our full sandwich menu, but will offer it soon after opening,” Nicholson said. “Otherwise, all of our traditional gluten free baked goods including our paleo line and our vegan offerings like our daily selection of cupcakes, cookies and brownies as well as all of our custom cakes will be available from day one.”
