Fort Worth wants water slide record

Water slide

As if having the world’s longest water slide isn’t enough, officials with Panther Island in Fort Worth want to set the record for the longest distance travelled on a slip and slide in one hour in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Trinity River Vision Authority is attempting to break the world record for the longest distance travelled on a slip and slide in one hour. All participants who slide between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. during PantherFest on June 6 will be a part of attempting to set the new world record.

“Fort Worth is the best city in the nation and I’m so excited that the community is coming together to celebrate its birthday in a fun Fort Worth fashion,” said Fort Worth Mayor, Betsy Price in a news release. “I can’t wait to see people from across the whole city show up to put Fort Worth in the record books as we slide the city!,” she said.

The festival, which celebrates Fort Worth’s birthday, will showcase Fort Worth-based musicians and bands such as Chris Watson, Charla Corn, Shotgun Friday, Legacy 4, Chucho, Adrian Garza, Ryan Tharp, Two Ton Folk, DJ John Pollard and Cody Culberson. The schedule of music on both the Panther Island Brewing and the Fort Worth Harley-Davidson Stages can be found at PantherFest.com.
