Fort Worth Youth Orchestra celebrates the holiday season with a jingle

The Fort Worth Youth Orchestra (FWYO) invites the community to experience the sounds, sights and tastes of the holidays during their 2017 Holiday Concert at 3:00 p.m. (in two parts) on Dec. 10 in the Texas Christian University Ed Landreth Auditorium, located at 2800 S. University Drive.

FWYO’s event will feature the Youth Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, String Orchestra and Junior String Orchestra, in addition to the Mixed Choral Ensemble from the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts and the Fort Worth ISD’s Childrens’ Honor Choir.

The FWYO’s Holiday Concert allows parents to introduce children to instrumental music and the arts in Fort Worth.

Part One:

The sounds of the holidays begins at 3 p.m. with performances by the the Junior String Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra featuring the FWISD’s Children’s Honor Choir and a family Holiday Sing-a-Long. Then, at 3:30 p.m. in the auditorium, audience members will enjoy a performance by the new FWYO Brass Ensemble.

Entr’acte:

During the Entr’acte from 4-5 p.m., audience members can partake in the FWYO Parents’ Guild Annual Holiday Auction which features holiday gifts.

All are welcome to enjoy the first-ever Parents’ Guild Holiday Café, which will offer coffee and tea with Holiday themed treats while you waiting for Part Two to begin.

Additionally, Holiday Music will be heard in the main Lobby, side Lobby and Holiday Café as it is performed by the FWYO’s Chamber groups and solo musicians.

Part Two:

The concert will pick back up at 5 p.m. with performances by the Junior String Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra featuring FWAFA’s Mixed Choral Ensemble and a family Holiday Sing-a-Long.
