From the desk of Lisa Lankes, Justin Boots

🕐 2 min read

Lisa Lankes, chief marketing officer Justin Boots

The best thing about Lisa Lankes’ desk isn’t what’s on it but what’s looking over it. Or rather who is doing the looking. Robert Redford is one. Matthew McConaughey is another. Then there’s George Clooney, Robert Duvall and Mitt Romney. As Chief Marketing Officer of Justin Boots, Lankes has photos of Justin Boots fans (with her in tow) who just happen to be A List celebs and newsmakers. The photos decorate a display shelf near a desk that’s made of both wood and leather. No kidding. Here are a few other things we found on her desk:

$2 bill. Came to her with some kind of promotion, of which Lankes tried to discard to a colleague. “She said I had to keep it because it’s lucky.” Has it been? “Always.”

Today to-do folder. “I’m in search of a new ad man so I’m actually looking through some resumes.”

Glass boot candy bowl. Usually full of mints or chocolates for visitors to munch on. And just visitors. “Not putting something in there I like keeps me from sitting here and eating all of it.”

Reading Material: Performance Intelligence at Work; Put Your Mouth Where the Money Is; Think Big, Act Small.

New perfume. “We’re starting to do fragrances. It’s for men and it will be called “1879 for Men.”

Face reading book. Maybe she can use it for the ad man interviews.

Cell phone. “Always keep it handy because I use it almost as much as I use the desk phone.”

Coffee and water. “I have to do both. No more than two cups in a day. Water, I’ll sip on all day long.”

The desk. “It was actually made for Randy, our CEO. He didn’t like the purple in it. I love it.”

Quote: “I don’t become overwhelmed with books if I keep them on my desk and read a little every few days. Eventually, I get through them. . . most of the time.”
