Immersive digital entertainment concept coming to Arlington

PY1

A new immersive, digital entertainment concept is making its U.S. debut in Arlington.

PY1 is a multimedia-heavy, pyramid-shaped traveling exhibit that will open this New Year’s Eve at Lot F of Globe Life Park.

The touring venue, initially launched in Montreal this summer, is co-founded by Stephane Mongeau, former executive producer of Cirque du Soleil, and his company Lune Rouge Entertainment.

The pyramid itself is 81 feet high and has 12,544 square feet of space for entertaining displays.

Inside, 32 3-chip DLP laser projectors will illuminate and bounce light on a 744,000-lumen screen. More than 500 state-of-the-art pieces of LED lighting and more than 25 lasers will add to the audience experience.

The focus is on immersive storytelling, which also incorporates augmented reality, changing atmospheric effects and 3-dimensional settings.

The venue can hold up to a thousand attendees.

As per Lune Rouge Entertainment, PY1 features two main shows:

• Through the Echoes: A multimedia show that takes visitors on a technological and emotional odyssey through space and time featuring lasers, 360° projections, kinetic stage elements, special effects and grandiose lightscapes.

• Stella – The Time Machine Journey: A new participatory show that encourages kids and families to move and dance together in the biggest time machine ever built. Inspired, in part, by the show Through the Echoes, Stella promises an unforgettable adventure for the whole family.

Both the shows will run for 50 minutes.

On Saturday evenings and select nights, the pyramid will transform into a giant dancefloor and designed as a dance party, called PY1 Nights.

In a press release, the show producers said they encourage visitors to come and “let their curiosity run free and escape reality.”

The venue can also hold special and corporate events, the press release said.

PY1 will be open to open for a limited time before traveling to its next destination.

Tickets for shows are available at PY1.com and at Ticketmaster, ranging from $23.50 to $40.50. Tickets for the first show on Dec. 31 are priced starting from $38.
