National Coloring Book Day is recognized annually on August 2 and this year Flying Saucer Fort Worth will be participating in the celebrations!

“We will be celebrating Coloring Book Day at the Flying Saucer with crayons, markers, colored pencils, and obviously, delicious beer,” the bar’s Facebook page reads. “Come unwind with us and color inside the lines – or not – while you and your friends enjoy tasty beer.”

This event will be kid friendly with free admission and all materials provided. Additionally, the finished, colored works will be hung on the wall for all to see.

According to the National Day Calendar, National Coloring Book Day was submitted by Dover Publications in May 2015, and was declared to be observed annually on Aug. 2.

The official Dover Publications National Coloring Book Day pages are released annually and can be downloaded, here http://www.doverpublications.com/coloringbookday .

Though often thought to be children’s entertainment, recently adult coloring books have become a new trend. Well, Dover Publications must have been ahead of the curve as the company released its first adult coloring book, Antique Automobiles Coloring Book, in 1970, and now offers a whole line of books specifically for “adult colorists” called Creative Haven.
