Kimbell gallery talk to feature painter Franciso Moreno

Painter Franciso Moreno will present a gallery talk for the Kimbell Art Museum’s “Artist’s Eye” series on Saturday, January 12, at 11 a.m. in the Kahn Building’s South Gallery. Moreno will discuss artwork in the Kimbell’s permanent collection, including Jacopo Bassano’s Portrait of a Franciscan Friar and Michelangelo’s Torment of Saint Anthony, in relation to his own work. Claire Barry, director of conservation, will moderate this discussion.

Francisco Moreno was born in 1986 in Mexico City, Mexico and currently lives and works in Dallas. He graduated with a Masters of Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Design with the prestigious Presidential Scholar award (2012). He has participated in the international Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family SOLUNA International Music & Arts Festival (2015). Moreno has received several art awards including the Dallas Museum of Art’s Kimbrough Grant (2014) and Nasher Sculpture Center’s artist microgrant (2016). He has had solo exhibitions nationally and internationally. Moreno is represented by Erin Cluley Gallery in Dallas. .

“The Artist’s Eye” program brings artists and architects to the Museum to discuss works in the Kimbell’s permanent collection or elements of its buildings, to share the special insights of practicing professionals and to relate older art or architecture to contemporary artistic concerns, including their own.
