Local companies partner to sponsor youth cattle event

More than 100 young cattlemen and cattlewomen, aged 7 to 18, exhibited their Texas Longhorn at Will Rogers Memorial Center over the weekend.

The first-ever The Source 2019 Summer Showdown gave out prizes and awards up to $30,000.

After the 2019 Diann Chase Longhorn Scholarship Expo, originally scheduled for June 4 till June 9, was abruptly postponed last month, several local companies and volunteers came together to organize the new event.

Grapevine’s Kubota Tractor Corporation teamed up with Pinnacle Logistics, The Source and the local agriculture community to made sure the young exhibitors, who had prepared for months, had an event to compete in and get rewarded for the hard work and dedication they put to breed their Texas Longhorns.

The exhibitors, many upcoming high school graduate, will likely use the scholarship fund to further their education.
